The Hal J. Pos Memorial Scholarship
The Hal J. Pos Memorial Scholarship was established in 2023 to honor the life of Hal Pos, longtime McGillis Trustee and father of Hannah, Class of 2012.
Hal served The McGillis School as a Trustee from 2008 - 2022 and helped to develop and professionalize our Board of Trustees of which he was President from 2011-2013. During his tenure, Hal helped to educate the Board and build their capacity to govern the School. Hal believed in the positive impact of the McGillis experience and embodied the School’s values. His love for the School was evident and his dedication to advancing the School’s mission was constant.
Hal had a personal friendship with Joanne McGillis and served as a trusted advisor to Joanne, and her husband, Dick. He fostered a deep and meaningful relationship with the McGillis family and encouraged their continued investment in the School during the historic and significant growth of the School’s second and third decades
Hal’s legacy and dedication to McGillis will live on through the establishment of The Hal J. Pos Memorial Scholarship. This full-tuition scholarship will be awarded to a student who demonstrates financial need and, like Hal, embodies the values of the School. Priority will be given to students from diverse backgrounds and will support the student throughout their time at McGillis.
