Volunteer during your child’s weekly library time, or any time during the week, helping our librarian with shelving books, assisting students, checking books in/ out, and more.

In celebration of Rosh Hashanah, the beginning of the Jewish year, volunteers will hand out apples dipped in honey to students as they enter the building, as a symbolic way to wish the community a sweet new year. 

Plan, provide refreshments, and set up a parent social in the library, which takes place while Middle Schoolers are at a dance on campus.

Plan and facilitate this family fall celebration, which ties in with Sukkot, the Festival of the Harvest. The family event will include food trucks, kids activities, and a market of items made and/ or donated by the community.

Work with students, faculty, and staff to rake and bag leaves from neighboring yards during this annual one-day service-learning activity.

At McGillis, we celebrate Passover by holding Freedom Seders for each grade, featuring some traditional Passover foods, songs, and stories. Parent volunteers assist with preparing the food and overseeing the students as Ms. Liz Paige leads the Seder.

Plan and manage activities for a few events during the school year to celebrate our faculty and staff, including a breakfast and other special surprises.

Help plan and set up for this adults-only evening, which will include food, drinks, and a trivia competition.

Help facilitate the bi-annual, weeklong book fairs by restocking books, acting as a cashier, etc. The book fairs are also fundraisers that support new book purchases for the McGillis Library.

Help set-up refreshments, greet GrandFriends, and guide guests to students’ classes during this one-day program that brings our GrandFriends in to experience the McGillis community.

Join our faculty, staff, and students to plant trees in a local park. This hands-on, full-day experience is part of our service learning curriculum and honors our value Tikkun Olam (repairing the world).
