Bio:
Before accepting my current position as librarian at The McGillis School, I served as Senior Librarian for Children's Programming & Outreach with Salt Lake County Library. I was an American Library Association Emerging Leader in 2017 and the Utah Library Association's Librarian of the Year in 2014. I love informational works for children, and I'm honored to currently be serving on the 2021 Sibert Award Committee. One of my professional goals is to increase the use of diverse books in Utah's public, charter, and independent schools. I love camping, especially in the mountains. I'm an avid reader and an enthusiastic knitter.

I am currently reading:

Over the summer, I like to read grownup books. Right now I'm enjoying Worn: a people's history of clothing by Sofi Thanhauser

I am learning to:
Be a better vegetarian cook.

What is your superpower?:
My superpower is the power to read, and the ability to share that love of reading with students.

Favorite McGillis tradition:
I love Family Group!

What do you think makes McGillis different?

McGillis is a beautiful place to learn. Together, we create a nurturing space for children to stretch themselves by trying new things. We learn as much from our failures as we do from our successes. Learning and growth are messy, and we are undeterred by that. It's part of our process, and we approach it with love in our hearts.

Which value do you most appreciate?

I love all the Values, but my favorite is Tikkun Olam. It's an honor and a joy to walk into a building filled with children and join our community in the effort to repair the world.
