Bio:
I'm proud to say that I'm an Oregon native! I moved to Utah in 2014 to finish my Bachelor's degree at Westminster but just couldn't leave. I decided to stay another year and complete my Masters of Arts in Teaching. My time in AfterSchool at McGillis solidified my passion and love of working with kindergarten students. I loved the 5 years I spent working with kindergarteners, but I am excited to step in as a Learning Center teacher. In my free time, I love to hike, tend to my green babies (aka my plants), cook, and spend time with friends.

I am currently reading:
Madeline Miller's book called Song of Achilles

What is your main teaching goal for the 2020/2021 school year?
My main teaching goal for this school year is to foster a love of learning in my students and provide them with hands-on, engaging opportunities.

Favorite McGillis lunch:
Chicken Gyro

Favorite McGillis tradition:
Buddy Reading!

Which McGillis Value do you most appreciate?
Good and Kind Deeds. I think doing small deeds throughout the day is an easy way to make others feel good and also feel good yourself. Good deeds always come back around and help us maintain the tight-knit, loving community we are!

What is a powerful moment you experienced at school?
As a student at Westminster, I had an English teacher who took a subject that I couldn't stand and turned it into a subject I loved because of the right approach to my different learning style. At that point, I realized that as an educator, I have the power to create meaningful lessons that have the potential to reach every student, no matter their interest or ability level.
