Bio:
I grew up in various suburbs of Southern California, riding my bike along tree-lined streets, spending all day at the pool, and reading anything and everything. In fact, my childhood could be summed up as a series of books/authors. First came the Judy Blume books (Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Are You There God, It's Me Margaret). Then came the dog books (White Fang, Call of the Wild, Where the Red Fern Grows). In middle school, I fell in love with Madeline L'Engle (A Wrinkle in Time, Swiftly Tilting Planet) and the Bronte Sisters (Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre). Then of course, once high school hit, it was all things Jane Austen. I'm sure you saw that one coming. Other than reading, I love chasing moments of transcendence by listening to music, sitting still in nature, and spending time with close friends and family.

I am currently reading:
Path to Power by Robert Caro

I am learning to:
Manage a yard

Favorite McGillis lunch:
Any of the pasta dishes! Yum!

Favorite McGillis tradition:
Shabbat

The defining moment that lead to your career in education:
As a teen, I read the book, One Child, by Torey L Hayden. Through her personal story, I became excited by the idea of helping a child open herself up to receiving not just an education but the care of another human being.
