Bio:
After moving around for the first 13 years of his life, Ben came to Utah and fell in love. He began working at Congregation Kol Ami in a kindergarten class, before working at the JCC's summer camp. He came to McGillis in 2013 and worked in AfterSchool, substitute taught, and was a teacher's assistant until he took a year away to finish his degree. He rejoined the McGillis community and has loved every minute of being a teacher here. In his time outside of school, Ben loves to cook, read, enjoy music, spend time with friends and family, and take in the beauty of the great outdoors!

Favorite McGillis tradition:

Fall Leaf Haul....what a song!

Favorite McGillis Lunch:
Fish tacos, TBLT, or the “meatball” sub

What is a powerful moment you experienced at school?
I had my first male teacher in fourth grade. At that time, all I cared about was sports, and began to check out of anything that didn’t involve playing or discussing sports. Instead of fighting me on that, my teacher, Mr. Kling developed a fantasy football scoring system that was based around practicing math facts. That was the first time I felt truly seen and cared for by a teacher, and that changed my life forever!

Which value do you most appreciate?
Kehilah! We are nothing without our community!
