Lower School Teacher (K-2)
The Lower School Teacher is responsible for fostering a nurturing, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for young students. The teacher will work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support each student's academic, social, and emotional growth. This position reports to the Lower School Director and works closely with students and families, as well as Lower School faculty and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Create and sustain a classroom culture based on the mission and values of the school.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding children as a priority.
- Supervise recess and lunch according to duty schedules, monitor student safety at all times.
- Develop well-reasoned, age appropriate lesson plans and units for all aspects of the academic curriculum including language arts, mathematics, social studies, social-emotional learning, and project based work.
- Apply various effective, research-based instruction and assessment techniques.
- Manage a positive and structured learning environment, differentiate instruction as needed.
- Communicate proactively and consistently with parents/guardians and colleagues; conference with families twice yearly and as needed throughout the year; write progress reports each trimester.
- Attend and participate positively in faculty meetings and school events.
- Engage in professional development opportunities, as well as in the professional growth model specific to The McGillis School.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner at all times.

The Learning Center - Middle School Science Teacher
The Learning Center (TLC) seeks an experienced and motivated educator who understands the unique learning needs of students with learning differences and desires to create a safe environment to help students discover their potential, embrace their differences, and thrive in and out of school. The TLC uses structured, sequential, and multi-sensory teaching approaches to help students develop fundamental academic skills in a setting with a target student to teacher ratio of 6:1. This TLC teacher will teach Science to 6th-8th grades using a wide range of instructional strategies and will help students use a variety of tools and resources to find academic success.
Teacher Responsibilities:

5th Grade Teaching Assistant
The McGillis School, an established, independent K-8 school in Salt Lake City, Utah has an opening for a Lower School Teaching Assistant beginning August of 2025. This position is 35 hours/week, typically Monday-Friday, 8:15-3:15 PM.

Position Description
The role of the teaching assistant is to provide support to students throughout the school day. Assistants will spend time working in the two classrooms that make up a grade level and will work in collaboration with both lead teachers to build a community of learners who respect and care for one another. This position reports to the Lower School Director and works closely with students and families, as well as Lower School Faculty and Staff.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding children as a priority.
- Work with students in small groups, individually, or as a whole class.
- Establish familiarity with the overall program and related resources and materials in order to assist in facilitating learning experiences with students.
- Assist in the general supervision of classrooms, lunch/recess/playground, and perform duties as assigned by the classroom teachers.
- Foster positive and meaningful student interactions and relationships.
- Complete tasks assigned by lead teachers to maintain the classroom environment, materials, and documentation of student work.
- Value and incorporate diverse perspectives in daily student interactions and within the program.

Physical Education Teacher

Front Office Administrative Assistant
The McGillis School is seeking an Administrative Assistant who will provide Front Office support at both the Main Campus and the new campus facility West Campus, located 1 block away. This position will be responsible for daily front office duties as well as provide administrative support for various other departments within the school. We are looking for a passionate professional who will embrace the school’s mission and values. This position reports to the Director of Finance.
Daily Front Office Responsibilities:
- Answer phone calls and email inquiries and forward to appropriate recipients
- Welcome and ensure visitors sign in and receive appropriate visitor badges
- Log and report school-wide student attendance daily
- Communicate with faculty and parents regarding absences, create attendance reports as needed
- Coordinate early dismissals, assist with daily dismissal procedures
- In coordination with the Health Specialist, administer daily medications and update medication log
- Track student health data and communicate with teachers regarding medications and health concerns
- Administer first aid to students as needed
- Monitor security cameras and radio communication, respond as needed
- Receive packages and distribute mail
- Maintain a clean and welcoming office environment
Administrative Support Duties:
- Create files for all new students, maintain confidential records for all students
- Fulfill student record requests from other schools throughout the year
- Provide administrative support for school administrators as requested
- Manage school calendar requests; maintain calendar for faculty/staff
- Coordinate student and faculty/staff picture day
- Manage substitute teacher contacts and communication

Technology Integration and Support Specialist

The Technology Integration and Support Specialist ensures that the School’s technology platforms and infrastructure are reliable, manageable, and effective for educational and administrative needs. This position reports to the Director of Operations and routinely collaborates with the leadership team, school personnel, students, and parents to plan, implement, and support the School’s technology needs.
The successful candidate will possess keen problem-solving skills, the ability to work collaboratively and independently, strong organizational and communication skills, and a professional presence.
Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain systems
- Configure, deploy, manage, and support a variety of end-user hardware and software, including MacOS, iOS, ChromeOS, Apple devices, and Chromebooks
- Address technical issues and requests courteously, promptly, and efficiently for faculty, staff, students, parents, and guests
- Educate/train users by guiding and empowering them to solve problems independently while also supporting their growth
- Provide in-classroom support of devices, applications, and educational technologies
- Develop internal technical and end-user documentation
- Monitor and report inappropriate user account activity on the School’s network, systems, or equipment
- Provide AV support as necessary for presentations and events
- Maintain hardware inventory and evaluate software and hardware replacement needs
- Evaluate new software, applications, and hardware interoperability with school infrastructure
- Ensure network usability and security; execute network projects involving installation, repairs, upgrades, and replacement of infrastructure devices in coordination with a third-party engineer
- Make recommendations to leadership regarding purchasing and technology project plans as needed
- Participate in duties as assigned, attend meetings to contribute positively to the overall school community

Qualifications
- 3+ years of working experience in an educational technology related field
- Bachelor's degree in an educational or technology related field preferred; High school diploma or equivalent required
- Strong ability and motivation to recognize, identify, diagnose, and resolve a wide range of complex software and hardware problems
- Broad experience with Apple products and recent experience managing MacOS, iOS and tvOS devices
- Ability to assess, implement, and maintain effective network and data security
- Experience supporting firewall devices, network, WiFi, VPN, device management
- Customer service mindset, comfortable assisting others, has an easy-to-understand manner when working with all users
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to function well and independently in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment
- Experience with administration of G-Suite

Substitute Teacher
The McGillis School is seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic substitute educators to work with students in grades K to 8 on a per diem basis. Certification and 3-5 years teaching experience preferred. The most desirable candidates will also be able to demonstrate proficiency using digital and online platforms for remote instruction as well as proven effectiveness as a classroom teacher in a brick-and-mortar setting.
Job Responsibilities will include:
- Willing to be contacted for coverage the morning of placement
- Must be able to work the full school day of 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
