We were thrilled to welcome students back to school today - remotely and in-person! We’ve been planning for our return to school all summer and seeing the smiling and inquisitive eyes of our Magpies made our collective efforts worthwhile.
And to no surprise, our Magpies did great! Overall, students did an exceptional job following the new ways of school -- wearing masks, staying physically distanced, enjoying lunch outside, taking masks breaks, navigating Canvas, logging into Zoom, entering and exiting the building, and more. Most importantly, they started connecting with their community of classmates (both in-person and remote) and their teachers.
Despite the differences to the start of this unusual school year, there remain similarities. As with any other year, the first days of school are spent getting to know one another, adjusting to new routines and new spaces, working together to define what a successful school year will look like -- and of course, working out the kinks. It will, of course, take time to acclimate to the new way of doing school and it will soon become normal for each of us.
Thank you for your support and trust in McGillis to open up a school year with a learning plan for your children that is unique to any other school year. We look forward to connecting with you next Wednesday, September 2 at 6:30 PM at our virtual Back To School Night.
We’re all excited to return to learning and will continue to enter each day with the health -- physical, social, emotional, and academic -- of our community our top priority.
