Bio:

I grew up in Wisconsin, though Utah now feels like home. I've been an educator for over 20 years.  I believe books help us better understand ourself and others, as well as teaching and entertaining us. My own passion for reading, and experience with struggling readers led me to certify as a Wilson Dyslexia Therapist. I love helping students of all ages and seeing their excitement and pride grow as they improve their reading skills. When I'm not reading or teaching, I love to hike, cook, garden, and spend time with family and friends.

Favorite McGillis lunch:

Chicken Gyros

Books I love:

The Grapes of Wrath (Steinbeck), This is How it Always Is (Frankel), The Hobbit (Tolkien), anything by Jodi Picoult

The McGillis value that means the most to me:

Tikkun Olam. All the McGillis values are so important, yet I think this one really sets our school apart. I love that children here are learning to be community minded and participate in activities that contribute to making the place we live better, not just for ourselves, but for others.
