Bio:

I am excited to be back at McGillis for my third year teaching 6th Grade Spanish! This will be year 19 in my classroom teaching career, and I have taught Spanish to students ranging from kindergarten to university levels, but 6th Grade is "where it's at!" I love the energy, deep thinking, and personalities of the students, as well as the significant growth that they make in this first year of middle school. In addition to my work here, I am also a certified group fitness instructor and teach at various studios and rec centers along the East Bench. So when I am not at school, I am most likely moving around and keeping active. I also enjoy reading all kinds of books, playing NYTimes games, learning French, experiencing live music, going to the movies, cooking and baking (and eating!), playing tennis and pickleball, traveling, and spending time with my family.

Favorite McGillis Lunch:

Chickpea Gyro or Curry

Books I love:

A is for Alibi by Sue Grafton (and the alfabet series); Olga Dies Dreaming by Xóchitl González; A Snake Falls to Earth by Darcie Little Badger

The McGillis value that means the most to me:

Limud L'shma (learning for the sake of learning) is the value that means the most to me because it speaks to the curiosity and lifelong learning that I strive to embrace myself and encourage in my students.
