The McGillis AfterSchool Program engages students in an environment that encourages social, academic, and creative growth. Our goal is to further the Essential Attributes reflected in the McGillis community through guidance and living by example.
The McGillis School offers an AfterSchool Program for Kindergarten through 8th grade students. It is offered from 3:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. each regular school day. Participating students check in with AfterSchool Staff in the Dining Hall at the end of the school day, get a snack, play outside with friends, and either attend an Enrichment Class or remain for our general Activity Time. During general Activity Time, students can choose from: supervised homework time, free play, quiet reading, indoor/outdoor games, and art/craft projects. Parents may choose to have their student(s) participate in supervised homework time by checking the appropriate box on the registration form. Students are responsible for knowing what their homework is and completing it. AfterSchool staff will support students with their homework questions. The AfterSchool Program is an extension of the The McGillis School. AfterSchool students are expected to follow the The McGillis School behavior expectations. Siblings of McGillis students in Kindergarten through 8th grade who do not attend McGillis may attend the McGillis AfterSchool Program.
Please complete the AfterSchool Program registration form and return it to the front office before you plan on using the program. For planning purposes, please indicate the days you anticipate using. You will only be billed for the hours you use the program. Enrollment in the AfterSchool Program is open throughout the year.
COST / CHECK OUT POLICY
The cost is $8 per hour (billed at $2 per 15 minute increment). Billing time for lower school students begins at 3:30 PM. Billing for middle school students begin at 4:00PM as students are allowed in the library until then. Parents are billed for the time you use the program on a monthly basis. Latest pick-up time is 6:00 PM and only authorized adults listed on the registration form may check out your student(s). We require an email or phone call to the AfterSchool Staff if someone other than an authorized adult is picking up your child.
Enrichment Classes are additional classes available for students to attend after school for an additional cost. Students may join the AfterSchool Program before 3:30 P.M. when Enrichment Classes begin. Enrichment Class instructors will pick up students that are in AfterSchool and take them to class. We expect parents to pick up students from Enrichment Class instructors at the end of the class or students must join the AfterSchool Program (at the regular hourly rate).
ALL-DAY CARE PROGRAM
We offer the All-day Care Program from 8:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. for $60 per day or $100 per family on selected days when school is not in session. These full days include snacks, games, art/craft projects, and an off-campus activity. Your student does not need to be enrolled in the AfterSchool Program to participate in the All-day Care Program. Regular attendance in the AfterSchool Program does NOT automatically enroll your student(s) in the All-day Care. Please complete a separate registration form for our All-day Care Program and turn it into the office by the date specified on the registration form. Please note that registration for All-day Care is to be done for each All-day Care date. Unfortunately, we cannot accept drop-ins or phone registration for our All-day Care Program.
