Parent Association

The McGillis School encourages a strong relationship between parents and the school. Every parent is automatically a member of the Parent Association (PA). Parents can become even more involved by participating in PA projects and committees, or becoming a class representative. For more information you can read the Bylaws.

You might be asking yourself what does the P.A. do? Here are just a few of fun things the P.A. coordinates with the school:

• Fall class parties
• P.A. monthly meetings
• Movie/Game Night
• Middle School dance
• Book fairs
• Brownies-in-a-Bag
• Winterfest
• Classroom representatives (room parents)
• McGillis Plunge
• Topic Talks
• Coffee Talks
• Teacher Appreciation week
• Parent-Teacher Conference meals
• Go Green (environmental advocacy)

These are wonderful community-building events that are enjoyed by parents, teachers, and students alike. However, we need YOUR help to make them happen. Please take the time to fill out the Volunteer Interest Form and return it to Brooke McDonald in the Front Office to see what type of volunteering you would like to do this year. We know your time is precious so no matter if you have one hour, one week, or one year; there is a place for you. We welcome all volunteers regardless of time commitment!

The Parent Association is excited to kick-off the 2011-12 school year. Remember, the first Parent Association is meeting is Tuesday, September 13 at 6:30 P.M. We will discuss the plans for the year and go over important dates. See you all there! Parents Volunteering

The McGillis School welcomes parent involvement in the classroom and the many events going on around the school. Please contact the front office for more information about serving on one of the various committees or a specific project.
