The Annual Fund
Tuition alone does not cover the cost of providing each student with an academically vigorous education and the foundation for enthusiastic learning and becoming ethical citizens. Every gift counts! It is the collective generosity of many that enables us to deliver the best possible education to our students.
Is an Annual Fund Campaign unique to The McGillis School?
No. All independent schools and colleges have long relied on the generosity and loyalty of their community. Very few independent schools, colleges, or universities have the ability to sustain their school community with tuition alone.
Why not increase the tuition to cover the costs?
By keeping costs down and tuition affordable we can reach a broader population creating our unique McGillis Community. Also, a donation to the school is tax-deductible and tuition is not.
What are the goals of the Annual Fund?
Participation. By achieving high participation, we demonstrate a supportive community of giving, which is reviewed by other philanthropic organizations when determining whether to provide The McGillis School with additional funding.
What is the difference between the Annual Fund and Capital Campaign?
Annual Fund gifts are solicited and given to sustain the faculty, programs, and therefore the educational future for our children. Capital Campaign gifts are solicited to support construction, building, or endowment funds.
Am I expected to give to both the Annual Fund and Capital Campaign?
It is important for all families to support both, if possible. However, if you are only able to support one, because the Annual fund supports the sustainability of a McGillis School education and community, we ask that the Annual Fund be your first giving priority.
How much does The McGillis School expect me to give?
We hope that each family member can find a way to participate, at a level that is comfortable and appropriate for them. The McGillis School is truly grateful for every gift.
