In this class, students will further their ability and understanding of 2-D art, and develop a strong sense of design through decision-making and problem-solving projects. Media used may include graphite, oil pastel, colored pencil, chalk pastel, charcoal, ink, watercolor and acrylic paints. This class is also devoted to exploring many historical and contemporary artists to inspire each student to begin developing their own creative style. The overall aims are to have students grow a love and appreciation for the arts, and to build an artistic vocabulary to discuss and think critically about each artwork.

Student Expectations and Grading

  • Initiative & Independence: students will be expected to focus on learning and take responsibility for clean up and supplies
  • Citizenship: students will demonstrate a positive attitude and be respectful of others
  • Assignments & Projects: students will complete projects and assignments to the best of their ability and in a timely manner
  • Cumulative Grade: students will be graded on the equally-weighted above criteria
