Social Studies
The social studies program at The McGillis School emphasizes a sense of self, family and community in relation to historical and geographic inquiry. Students in the early grades focus on ideas of self, family, and community. As children develop, they are ready to begin creating a framework for understanding the role of history, political and economic structures, geography, and culture as forces that shape individuals, communities, and society. Students are encouraged to apply their learning to the solution of practical problems on local, national and international levels.
