"It is so important for our kids to get a larger perspective on the world - to see what other peoples lives are like and to understand about diversity. Through the community service programs, McGillis students gain this perspective and learn to help others by doing."

- Ann Bernstein

Culture
The McGillis School stresses the importance of active citizenship through participation in community programs. Students organize and carry out service projects and explore issues related to service, justice and tolerance. Parents are strongly encouraged to participate in their child's educational experience by volunteering in class, supporting special programs or by coordinating service learning activities.

Although built upon universal Jewish values, the McGillis School is a non-religious school. Children from all backgrounds are welcome and encouraged to enroll. The student body is a patchwork of races, religions and ethnicities. The "mix" at McGillis provides an opportunity for children to learn about, experience and embrace many cultures and lifestyles.
